As a portrait photographer, I’m guided by
the opposites within each of us. The joyful sorrow, the frail strength,
the mute eloquence. Portraits are personal statements that capture the
passion, the poetry, the feeling, the person.
As I initiate my collaborative work, I
listen and watch carefully. I like to begin with the question “Why have
you chosen to have your portrait done?” The answers are insightful, and
provide the catalyst for what follows during the shoot. I like an
unconventional approach; it allows us to look at things in a different
way. For example, a portrait need not include a face. I stand in a place
of utter respect and gratitude for those moments shared that capture what
lies beneath—waiting.
